You start yours a lot later than me .
I put my nuts in moist media in November . They put out a root sometime in February.
I have 2 ft trees now.
My germination rate was almost 100 percent.
Next year I’m going to delay moisture .
I’m hoping to not have to run my greenhouse heater so much ...

Here In Missouri I harvest Chestnuts off an orchard that has a little over 100 trees . In older gentleman planted these about thirty years ago .
The first trees start dropping around first week in oct . The last to drop early November to second week nov .
When these trees start opening it...
I guess not a good idea for an isolated food source.
My cousin says there these two Thornless honey locust trees that the deer are hammering the seed pods .they are ornamental trees , but I guess they are a no no
