Looks like a mix with real promise. I have trained many "mutts" into very good tracking dogs. I like anything with Bassett hound in it. Starting with a liver drag or deer hoof drag is a great way to assess interest. Keep the drag short and less than 30 minutes old to start. Keep some raw red...

Lightly disc it in. An inoculant will give you better nitrogen credits but doesn't affect your current crop.

Just got word, 9 pups born Monday night through Tuesday morning. 3 males and 6 females. That's a big litter, and I hope all stay alive and healthy. I am hoping for a motivated male pup with solid nerves.

Lastly, this is not a property pic, but is worth sharing. I took my youngest, Gabe, a couple of weekends ago on what we were hoping was going to be a knife hunt for hogs. A local man has a high fence operation for deer, and has been trying to eliminate wild hogs in the area for over a decade...

Another grafting success...This is an Ozark chinkapin that was top worked into an existing Chinese chestnut. This was grafted onto a single limb, so I should get both Ozark chinkapins and Chinese chestnuts if all goes well.
