I could get you some Prok scions if you wanted? I also have some natives that drop in sept then oct/nov. I would be interested in maybe giving the one you have a try too.
These pop up on our place a lot I have been top working them to wildlife pears or transplanting them to other places on the farm. I see tons of them on my commute and behind where I work.
I should have chinkapin oaks (not the dwarf) this year I will double check my tree in the yard. I also usually get American chestnuts every year if anyone wants some. Does anyone have American plum seed?
I wish I had focused more on persimmons then apples. Also you don’t have to pick any certain cultivar to do well in your area. Just have to find different drop dates. I hope to plant some seeds this fall winter spring and hope to add more.
If you can get a limb close to the ground might be worth trying to layer it now. There are several methods too many to explain but you wouldn’t have to graft doing that might give both a shot.
I agree that’s your best thing to do. Can you share the rootstock/scion combination? I think this same thing happens if you graft pecan onto hickories haven’t seen it myself but have seen it mentioned browsing the web...
Did you use them to topwork or graft onto rootstocks. I haven’t started grafting much I want to too work some but thought it may be too early. I think it’s gonna be warm enough now though.
Have either of you tried making any stool beds? I’m gonna try some stuff this year I started one late last summer and it put roots out and transplanted it earlier this year. I just had some failed grafts and didn’t want to move the rootstocks.
