Mountain Vacation with our 4-yr old Twin Grandsons.

The Wife and I joined a Vacation Club some years back and we get a Free Week during the more Winter Months to any resort not in a Southern Climate.

So we picked one in the mountain town of Banner Elk NC in the hopes that the boys would be able to see snow that they would remember.

Trouble was when we got here they are experiencing unusually warm temps and the snow had all melted. So we did the best we could to show them things they’d never see in Florida.

We went to Grandfather Mountain State Park where they got to see a Bear, Elk, Otters in their natural habitat. They also got to walk across the Mile High Swinging Bridge that is a mile above Sea Level and located between the two highest peaks.

We got an idea to go to a Ski Resort and found “snow” for them to play in and build a Snowman with Grammy.

We fished in the resort pond but the fish were not biting. Was hoping to have them catch a Trout.

They got to swim in the Indoor Pool at the resort.

So while not the Vacation we were hoping for, it still will be one they will remember.

Some pics of our “adventure”.

Looks like a great time with the kids. Snow was a plus. You should make the trip back in the summer, still cool , but warmer. My farm sits just down the road from the Eastern Continental Divide on its western slope.

Looks like they had fun ! We’re taking our 16 year old granddaughter to Yellowstone this summer, she’s never been out of the state. Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Rocky Mt. parks are all on the itinerary. Gonna be HUGE !

Try to make excuse to go to Cody WY outside of Yellowstone and go to the Firearms museum. The Winchester section alone could take couple days to get thru if u looked at everything. Been there twice riding thru on the Harley and never made a dent.

Looks like a good trip, but the rut is on in your area of Florida!

Probably is.

Last year we went with our daughter and my fil during the 1st week of February. That’s when they were up and moving on our place and when the boy got his.

Hard to figure exactly when they will be “on” so far.

No excuse needed to go to Cody ! I’ve been through it twice already, enjoyed it immensely, but we haven’t ever been through the NE entrance to Yellowstone so we’re taking in the Custer Battleground and the Beartooth route this time. The only thing I’m not looking forward to is the monotonous drive through N Texas and E Colorado. I think I’ll let my wife drive through there and I’ll nap..........with one eye open !;)

Lmao I get the flatlander drive and keeping an eye open. You will love the Beartooth. We rode the bikes across there 3rd wk of June in snow. They were skiing a glacier type slope adjacent to the high way. Great stuff but we were a bit puckered till we dropped out of the snow. Have a good time.
