Herbicide basics for food plots

Thanks for the information. I am busy as hell putting in my food plots right now. But I will definitely do this. I get my glyphosate from a local farmer. He told me to use 8 cups per 15 gallons. So I just figured it was a ratio formula.

That works up to a 3.3% solution....hopefully the farmer knows what he is doing. If it works for you great. The gly I use I tend to mix at a 2% rate and it works for me in most cases.....I will mix heavier on more stubborn weeds if needed (that is why reading the label is important). It also helps to spray young weeds vs mature weeds. Like I mentioned you don't have to get real worried until you start getting into your more expensive chemicals.....I have seen some stuff that is $100/quart! But the method I described will allow you to apply based on oz/acre if you find you need to do that.

I have a question about pre-emerge herbicides. If I am planting soybeans using broadcasting and want to use a pre-emergent herbicide, will direct contact with any uncovered beans have a negative effect? I am hoping to have our old drill up and running, but if not I would like to have an idea what to do. I will drag it lightly disc after broadcasting, but some beans are sure to remain exposed.
