I'd rather be; Sitting around a campfire! This is my custom made welded steel fire pit with 4 adjustable height swingout cooking grates and a warming plate up top. Show me some pics of your fire pits or outdoor kitchens.

My "custom" grate is not nearly as nice yours but it works very well... and it has a great view! Mine is big enough to move around hot spots and the overhang acts as a table for dishes that don't need to be over the heat.
Nice setup you've got!

Have you ever considered an Argentine type grill to keep grease flare-ups from happening? I'm thinking about making one for my ring.

I have one for my gas grill and didn't like it. If the grill is clean when you start grilling a little grease spitting in the fire is just part of the grilling experience. Those grease channels block a lot of heat during the cooking process. And on the grates pictured above, when there's flareups you just move the grate a tad higher above the flame, the option to adjust grate height over a wood or charcoal fire to finetune the flame and heat is unbeatable.

Our fire pits are standard ones bought from Lowes. They are pretty ordinary but do the job nicely. These pics were sent to me from our pike fishing guest Joy.
Here is the far away view from Mid May 2019. The area to the left shows a flooded neighboring property.

This is one of our favorite cottage guests enjoying an evening fire. Mike Hahl is a get it done fisherman. Regardless of conditions the fish are hitting when he is up. He is also a serious deer hunter that put up with my showing him a zillion trail cam pictures.

There isn't so much cooking done on our fire pits but they provide favorite spots for evening relaxing. And a beer or two (thousand) has been consumed around them since we installed them in late 2017.

It looks like it's burning nicely. Does the pit get any air from the bottom? A friend built a pit in a hole and it wouldn't burn well until he provided an air supply to the base.

I also have the Lowes model and yes spacing between pavers allows good enough air flow.Mennoniteman your set up is exactly what I am looking for.Nice design. Now I have to learn to weld.

A question that will no doubt push the boundaries of debate to its limits any recommendations on buying a new Fire Pit for the garden !!. The old Chiminea has bit the dust and er indoors would like a Fire Pit instead. I see the range and prices are endless so any pointers would be helpful
