I've been perusing the guns for sale sites on the internet trying to find a Ruger Super Blackhawk on the Bisley frame that wasn't stainless steel. I like blued guns better. Well, last week I found one with a price I could live with and I'm looking forward to whacking some hogs with it, maybe a deer also. I'm not new to handgun hunting, but when I took up the bow, I just never handgun hunted much after that. Now, I'm not as good with a bow as I used to be, so I'm gonna do a little handgun hunting this year. Maybe I'll scope it, maybe not. We'll see......image.jpeg

.44 Magnum Okie. I'm from the era that ALL Supers were .44s, so I tend to forget that they're now available in .41 Mag as well as .45 Colt, and probably .480 Ruger. I have another, it's a three screw Old Model made in '62, and it's a .44 also. You can't safely load but five cartridges in it but that's no handicap for hunting. Here's a picture.
 
I had a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 mag for a short while. I maybe should have kept it but I traded it for this S&W model 629 .44 mag...

Nice revolver Okie. I also have a Model 57 Smith, the .41 mag. It's in about 98% condition, worth about ten times more than it cost, so it stays in the safe. It's a more accurate revolver with a much better trigger and lock time, but I just like the single actions. Watched too many John Wayne movies and too much Gunsmoke I guess........:D

Bow hunting and handgun hunting both require a higher level of practice and aiming skill than long guns, so there is some similarities in these two drastically different weapons. Enjoy!
 
I had a 44 but the noise is what AI didn't like,switched to a 41 and was alot more pleasant to shoot,great looking gun
 
Nice looking revolver. I am thinking about scoping my Ruger Redhawk that have have shot a grand total of one deer with 20 years ago. Now that we can use pistols during our alternative season it makes it more interesting.
