Hate the cams I own. Looking to buy a few new ones

The information shared on this thread has reignited the expanded use of cameras for me and opened up a whole new avenue of hunting and scouting fun.
It reminds me of the old trapping days, trying to figure out where the best critters were traveling and then placing baited or blind sets for them. Without the cameras my season would be essentially over except for harvesting some does but now it gets to continue with the camera trapping to learn more about the big buck use of this property as well as another tool to reduce poaching activity to as low as possible. Right now I'm all over the property borders and poachers figure that out pretty quickly but for the periods when I'm otherwise occupied the cameras can do that job stealthily once I develop some killer camera hiding techniques. I understand that camera hiding techniques are something we should not be publishing on this site for all poacher/trespassers to see but if anyone I know from threads and posts on this site has any ideas please feel free to pm me and I'll send you my contact information and we can covertly share ideas on this subject.

Back to the purpose of this post, I have just ordered some more Browning strike Force cameras from a company called Presley Outdoors from Illinois. I don't know them but talked to the owner and they seem to be a great company. Cameras were priced at $89.95 plus shipping which ended up adding an additional $3.35 to the cost of each camera. Order has been shipped and I will post on here the results when they arrive. Best deal I could find but of course there likely will be more deals from others when the seasons begin to wind down. Still this was the lowest price I could find last year even after the season so it seemed like the time to push the order button was now. I guess other company's sales prices will depend on whether or not they have inventory left over at the end of the hunting season.

And here is a picture of a 2 1/2 that we have put on our don't shoot list as he looks promising (mass wise) and is a regular throughout the property.
IMG_0122a.jpgWe still have 2 1/2's generally as OK shooters in most cases for this property. It doesn't mean we all would take 2 1/2's but for now it is a realistic threshold for this property.

Just an update on the cams I chose...The Browning Strike Force HD PRO.
Overall, decent cams, but I've never owned any high-end cams to compare it to. The day pics are pretty good. The night pics are just so-so. There is often a lot of blur...which always seems worse on bucks than it is with does...go figure.
Battery life is great and so is detection.
I did have an issue with one of them, though. It was placed for about 5 weeks and when I opened it to swap cards, the inside was flooded...soaking wet card and screen. But lo and behold, the camera continued to take pics and the card was also still saving pics. I swapped cards and the sucker is still working, although there are some barely-noticable specs on each photo.
I contacted Trailcampro where I bought them and they didn't even ask any questions...they gave me an RA number and said to send it back, which I haven't done yet, but I'm hopeful Trailcampro will stand behind their warranty...it appears they will.
I will keep you guys posted on how they handle the issue.

Agree.Trailcampro is great company. Very helpful

The 2017 strike force cameras have arrived already and all boxes and cameras look perfect. It seems to have been an excellent deal at $89.95 each plus shipping and I will keep Presley Outdoors in mind for future hunting purchases. I purchased SD cards from B&H Photo for $9.59 per 32 GB card with free shipping. Got the batteries from Sams so now all that is left is to go set camera traps and log down each camera location as I go.

That's a great deal. It's my favorite camera by far, nothing I have tried compares, but I haven't bought any since 2016. I hope they haven't changed them any. For some reason these companies feel like they have to reinvent the wheel about every other year, instead of leaving well enough alone. Moultrie was on the same track in 2012 and 2013, then they redesigned everything and started turning out junk.

I have 3 2015 brownings that I finally pulled, tired of not knowing if they will take pics that week or not. Will sell cheap

What brand cards were they for that price? I have 1 Toshiba card and its horribly slow to load pics onto the computer.
I also have several Sandisk cards and they are MUCH faster than the Toshiba card.
When you pull a few cards and there are 3 or 4 thousand pics to view, speed in loading is essential.

The 2015 Strike Force had occasional SD card issues. The 2016 Strike Force HD Elite is as near a bullet proof camera as ever made. They are hard if not impossible to find now.

I wish there was a fix for them, browning knew they had issues but never fixed or offered to fix when I sent in,too bad they take good pics when they take pictures

Noticed that Presley Outdoors is now out of stock on the Browning cameras.

That is good to know Tap; Trailcampro looks to be the absolute safest place to buy cameras from. Looking forward to hearing how you make out with your Strike Force Pro that somehow let water in.

Card question...
I see those cards in the link say "class 10". I have a few Sandisk 16gb that are class 10. I also have a Sandisk 8gb that says class 4.
What's up with this "class" stuff? Is it the speed the card downloads?

One thing about the Trailcampro warranty...
Read it...it says if you buy in bulk (I bought 4...is that bulk?), the 2 year warranty is void and reverts to the factory warranty (1 year for Browning). I was still under 1 year, so I dont really know which warranty that TCP is honoring.
Just be aware...the 2 year warranty MIGHT not be all that its cracked up to be...not really sure.

Thanks Tap, I did catch that and can understand it. I saw it to mean the ones they sell at the sale prices like those listed on their site now with a two pack and a four pac; for those when you click on them it says they don't give the free card, the two year warranty, or the 90 day return policy.

I am not happy about the experience buckdeer1 had with his Brownings. Buckdeer, did you contact Browning while the cameras were still under warranty? So far all of mine purchased last year are working perfect and they were 2016 models.

Yes and I sent them in and they did the same thing until I pulled them.Browning do take good pics but i will have to check prices

Tap,
I'm not up on tech stuff, searched on google and as you surmised the class refers to data transfer speed. After reading it is obvious it refers to how fast the data can be written to the card. I didn't see where it said anything about reading the card though so expect the card does not facilitate faster reading. Here is a good link that helped me a little to start to understand the system. I think the best bet is to call Browning and talk to their techies to see what card speed is needed. We might be able to use less expensive cards than the class ten most of use today.

Thanks for the reply Buckdeer. I'm afraid I don't quite understand how Browning did or did not handle your faulty camera situation. It sounds like the cameras were under warranty, they tried to fix the problem while it was under warranty but did not. Is that the gist of it?

Holy crap... they already sent out the new replacement camera!
It just arrived today.
So far, there is nothing about Tarailcampro for me to complain about.
I'm completely satisfied with all aspects of dealing with them. Thumbs up.

Yes I sent them in and then when that didn't fix them they sent me new battery trays and that didn't help, they basically didn't know what else to try
