Just overfertilized... will it hurt?

I got a soil test and it told me to add 100 pounds of potash per acre. Without thinking, I bought 100 pounds and put it all on my .5 acre or less plot. I planted crimson clover right after fertilizing, will the extra fertilizer hurt anything?

100 lbs? I would guess 2x 50 lb bags of 0-0-60? If that is correct, you have roughly 60 lbs of potash. So you actually applied 120 lbs per acre on your 1/2 acre. Not a problem. ;)

Uh , no. 0-0-60 has 60% Potash / #, right? Then there is 30# potash/50# bag which means two bags would give a person 60# Potash?? Am I wrong?

Soooo if whitetail institute tells me I need 100 pounds of potash per acre, is that 3 1/3 50 pound bags or 2 50 pound bags?

Simple way to remember is simply the numbers on a 50# bag are are figured per 100#, so if you are using a 50# bag, those numbers are in half. Thus if you have a 50# bag of 19-19-19 then you have half of the what is figured on 100#. So if you need 400# of N/ac on a plot then you must use aprox twenty 50# bags.
Answer your question, you need what you said 3+ 50# bags for the most part/ac. But you are doing only half and ac so you need half your numbers if you want to stay true...and save some money. Good luck. It can get confusing

Thanks, sounds like I actually put about the right amount of fertilizer after all. Lol

You bought 100 lbs of 0-0-60. You bought 60 lbs of potash. You applied 60 lbs potash to 1/2 acre ... which is a 120 lb/acre rate. You applied 10 lbs too much on your half acre .... for potash, not a problem. You did good, relax, crack a beer, watch your clover grow. ;)

I broadcast a 600 pound rate last fall, broadcasted seed right along side it and walked away. I was only shooting for 400, but over-estimated my plot size. I think that rye is going to have stems like 12 gauge wire. Also had beans and brassicas in it and they did great as well.
