Here we go again! Parts have started to roll in. The kids run my old 10/22 I have had going on 30 years. Time to build my own. Striped receiver, bolt, and mis. Pins and screws all Ruger original. New unfired. Stock is a hogue.

The Hogue stock for the 10/22 is great, so much more comfortable than the synthetic stock...

Sounds like a fun project

I took a old Ruger 10/22 and did something similar. Pretty much the only original part left is the receiver. New Magpul tactical stock and chin rest. New 16” bull barrel which is threaded for a can if I ever decide to get one. New BX trigger. I’ll have to get it out of the case tomorrow and take a pics.

I've been wanting to build one for a while. I've got an extra wood stock laying around, could just build around that... Cool thread, keep us posted on how it goes and how it shoots once you get it together.

Barrel is in. 20” green mountain fluted sporter weight. Took some persuading to get it in the receiver.

Loaner trigger from my old 10/22. Threw a cheap bushnell scope on it until I get a leupold bought. With scope she weighs about 6.5 pounds. About perfect for a squirrel gun.

Hopefully get the barrel broke in this weekend and the final scope in the next week or two. No word on my back ordered bx trigger from Cabelas.

Almost there.

Patients boys. I put an old junk shotgun scope on it just to play with this weekend (only spare I had around). Ran about 50 through it, no problem ringing the popper every time at 50 yards. I’ll get her to a bench once I get the scope I want. It did go bang every time and no jams so I got all the pieces right!

Nice!
Any of you guys know where to buy a cheap reciever and trigger assembly? I have a stock.. would like to modify a trigger myself and add a nice barrel.

Been setting on a stack of gift cards time to cash in. I have a few Bass Pro gift cards too that supposedly they take at Cabela's now that they are one big happy family. Going to give it a try.

Scope is on - Leupold Freedom 2-7x33 Rimfire.

Got the Leupold sighted in over the weekend. About dime size groups at 25 yards off sticks in 90 degree heat. Set the Squirrel size popper up at 100 yards, 7 dashes down on the rimfire reticle holding steady we could ring it every time. Still need to get it to a bench.

Cabela's canceled the trigger order I have had in since March. Had to call and get a little sideways to get my sale price put back in. Good thing I am a card member! Customer service was very helpful, but it was kind of a pain. Should have the trigger next week. I plan on doing a few part changes in the trigger and bolt then I should be done. But.....The finish on the barrel seems to get a light rust tone pretty easy I might have to start shopping cerekote guys again. I may have a problem with these shade tree gunsmith projects!!!

Finally got her to the range. Did pretty well with CCI mini mags.

Usually wouldn’t post a 2 inch hundred yard group but I figured from a 22 lr it’s probably good enough. I used the fourth line down on the leupold reticle - each line is supposed to be an inch.
