Started out yesterday morning with my son calling in a love sick gobbler with me behind the trigger.

Son's buddy was busy bout the same time hauling in a few stripers.

Gathered at a friend's spot on the river and prepped turkey strips, turkey jalapeño poppers and seasoned striper filets along with all the fixins'.

Got the grease going for the turkey strips and grill fired up for poppers and filets.

Served with tater salad, mashed taters, slaw and asparagus spears. For dessert we threw in home made pecan pie and apple cake. Made for a pretty good day.

You are living large Buddy! Man does that ever look perfect!!! There is life after winter!!!!! You have this northern guy very excited about turkey season and the coming Crappie bite as well as the sprouting of asparagus.

Mmmm that looks amazing. And to think I was just a few miles from you today. Thot I smelled something good! Congrats on it all.

Appreciate the comments guys! That was my 1st ever turkey kill. Guess it's never to late to start. IMO wild turkey is some of the best tasting game you can put on the table. And that striper was off the charts. The striper was seasoned with pecan oil, smoked paprika and Tony Chachere seasoning.

Amazing! Congrats on the turkey and that meal looks to die for...

I spent Saturday at soccer fields and Sunday at church and then pulled the engine out of my GTO...haven’t got to go turkey hunting yet :(

Okie...There's a reason your known as the hardest working man on the forum. I wouldn't even know where to start on pulling an engine. Ain't much better than grandpa watching grand young 'uns do their thing while their young. You don't get a do over on bonding with grandchildren while they are still impressionable.

What brought you to my neck of the woods? Would love a get-to-gehter next time travels bring you this way.

I know a lot of areas that have "Farm to Fork" dinners. You take it to a new level. Congrats. Was Brooks on the call?

Almost everybody I know throws them back. For the life of me I can't figure out why. Striper is off the chain on the grill.

Yes he was. After it all went down I told him I didn't think he was calling loud enough or often enough to bring in a bird. He pointed to dead tom and said, "Proof's in front of you".

Tommy...I swear I'm not sure I've had better grilled fish. Reminded me of sea bass. Fleshy texture and awesome flavor. If you look at the pic you will see that he cut the blood line out of the filets. Perhaps the seasoning had something to do with it being so good.
