Killed the fourth rattlesnake sat, he was sunning on the dirt road. Biggest so far.

As I've told others on here, continue to show snakes and I will unfriend you.;) We have the rattler and copperhead, but luckily my rat snakes and hawks seem to keep them at bay, as do the cattle. But I keep a close eye for them, pretty tolerant of all animals but poinous snakes push my limit.

With the alleged chance of rain early next week I skipped out of work today to spray 12 acres. Ordered my seed & another 20 tons of lime. Gonna be a busy weekend. I've got another 8 of beans that I'll just broadcast seed into, the 12 I sprayed will be drilled.

Skipped out of work today to prep for planting this weekend. Picked up 30 bu of rye, 20 bu oats, 3 bu wheat, 50 lbs radish, 200 lbs red clover for my fall plots. I got 50 lbs of alfalfa, 20 white clover, 15 chicory to overseed my two perennial plots.
With a little luck I'll have my planting done by Sun or Mon, as long as my equipment hangs with me.

Got a good rain last night & early morning 2" + better late than never.

Drilled Plots were looking good, where I broadcast into beans is thin. I'm hoping there's still seed and I'll get more germination.

20's coming this weekend I understand...tough call on Oklahoma planting. If you plant late enough for good rains, frost is right around the corner...

ML may be good.

Ain't that the truth on plots, plant early,
hope for rain & no army worms. Plant late & hope for rain and establishment before a frost. It's gambling either way.

Past due for some updates. Early last year my mother's health started quickly declining, hospitalized several times and in a skilled nursing facility a couple times. Dr's decided there was nothing more they could do for her and she was sent home to my sisters for hospice care. She passed 2/20 at 84. Hadn't felt like or had a chance to get any work done for a bit.

Work slowed down some so we've been using some of our crew at the ranch. Finally got some work done on our east entry, the dirt road up the hill was already established when we bought the place but didn't have a bar ditch or tin horns so it washed & rutted out with every substantial rain. We cut a bar ditch and placed 4 tin horns, graded and spread several hundred cubic yards of asphalt millings. Should keep it in good shape for a long while.

Got started on the fence on the road frontage and pipe entry, pipe posts and top rail with 4 galv strands, drilled all we could with a skid steer but had to hire a pressure digger on about a quarter of the holes due to rock. Got about half of the fence done so far.

Done some clearing below the pond we built in 16, we'll eventually build a BW fence south off the pipe fence east of the pond

Lots of piles to burn soon, neighbors to the south gonna have to deal with a few days of smoke.

Ended up trapping 38 coons and 12 grinners during fur bearers season. I'll start trapping yotes next week .

Turkey sightings have been dismal, hoping this helps, a few of the critters trapped.

You've been busy. Sorry of you mom. Road looks awesome, can I borrow your crew for a wk? I need do same for a perimeter road but also plan to clear everything 10 yds to either side of road to help keep it dry, plus some easy browse for deer. Plots really greening up. We have winter storm coming in so probably not much farm work for me till next weekend.

Thanks dogg, pm me and I'll work out a crew deal, I just want to be fair and equitable... or at least equitable);

Looks great. Wish I had some time to trap. Had shots at 2 bobcats this year, neither ended up in my cubicle, and heard about 4 more in the immediate area.
