Hogs are going down soon!

I have bears on my lease and hogs at my house. Hogs will rub trees and kill them - bears will rip the fruit from them. Tie. Both will destroy corn feeders. Tie. Both will destroy six acres of corn - hogs might destroy 100 acres. Hogs are credited with far more crop damage than bears across the US. Hogs win. I would bet hogs kill far more dogs when hunting them than do bears. Hogs win. Both will displace deer. Hogs will root up your ground - making it almost impossible to use, bush hog, till, or plant. That is the worst thing in my experience. My hogs cause much more damage than my bears.

No food in this camper on our deer lease...curiosity I guess...

Still looking for this feeder that was 12 feet off the ground hanging well out from the tree and well below the limb it was hanging from. Cable was anchored at a different tree than the one the barrel was hanging from...

Shoot em! I dont use feeders or a camper - I guess if I did, I wouldnt like that either. I do know what hogs do to food plots and ag fields and it takes a lot of effort to repair. My next door neighbor farmer plants 600 acres - with forty acres of the field that extends off the back side - just for the hogs. He figures if they only take forty acres of crops - it is a good thing.

No season for bears here and no crops...we have a bunch of hogs and a few bears...by far the bears are our worst problem...

I used to think it would be fun to have bears....., now not so much ! Like I used to think it would be fun to have hogs, many, many years ago. Now I have hogs, many, many hogs. It ain't fun no more !

Hogs are a pain in the azs! If you have hogs they own your property. That used to be a clover food plot in the picture. I would sure like to borrow that trap...

Seems lot's of folks that haven't dealt with hogs tearing up their land & harassing wildlife think it would be cool to have them. I'll be killing all I can, up to 27 so far. I'll probably have a bear or two at some point, neighbor 1/2 mile south of me had one on cam last year.

Yes they do. That mindset helped the hogs' range increase just that much faster here. I know guys who trapped them and released them in other places. I wish Texas had gotten in front of this years ago, but they didn't.

Well Doc, there needs to be some dirt napping going on right there !:( You know, you don't have to spend a fortune to make a good hog trap. About 8/10 utility panels and a good drop gate will catch a bunch of young stupid hogs. And young stupid hogs grow up to be old wise, almost unkillable hogs. I don't subscribe to the wait and catch the whole sounder theory always. I will spring the trap any time I get MOST of them coming into the trap. My trap is usually set where I can see it from a distance from a couple different directions. If I catch some young pigs, I usually slip in and setup for the sow. She's there somewhere in the brush, and it's just a matter of time until she shows herself. Then it's off to hog hell for her ! We trapped 17 last year at once and the big sow and a young boar wouldn't go into the trap. It took my buddy three weeks to get her (with night vision) and I imagine she was already pregnant because the boar was following her when we trapped her pigs. We had an opportunity at the trap, when her pigs were in it, but we muffed it. Better late than never !:)

So my offer to trade hogs/fireants for yaupon holly is a "no?"

bill

So after not having a lot of problems with hogs for a few months they've returned. I have 3 sounders in my food plots daily, so far their not really rooting and tearing things up but with the hot dry weather their putting a hurting on them. Today I ordered a Hi-tech wireless trap from Bull Creek outdoors, the Game changer Jr . I like that it's self contained on a trailer. I hoping with the mobility I can rent it out and offset some of the expense. I'm tired of these things, hopefully I can get them thinned out before acorns fall and they start rooting, damn things vacuum up everything. They look like a decent unit, comes with a Hogeye live streaming video camera.

Sent you a PM.
