My New Pup

Super cute! I've had 3 chocolates and seeing Reese makes me want my 4th. Great dogs whether it be companion, working or both.
Some wonderful memories lie ahead for you two.

Cute! I am starting training with a new pup myself. You can follow along with my training progression at highcaliberbloodtracking.com. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the compliments. She just turned 9weeks.We got sit and stay pretty much whipped. Now we are working on adding Place to the equation.I think once I have her obeidience out the way I'm gonna start the tracking process.I'll try and follow along to others training.Really excited to see what she can turn into, right now she wants to play a lot and chew everything in site lol

I have 3 dogs - all just pets, but the smartest one is a lab/healer mix. I can't imagine life without a dog in it. She sure is cute.....

She almost looks like she has some charcoal in her. Very pretty

Yeah she is actually a Silver Lab but she comes from a bloodline of Black,Yellow, and Chocolate so I guess her coat is more of a light brown than an actual Silver. Some people are down right nasty when it comes to silver labs, but she will be fine for what I want her for.I won't tell them what to do with their money or dog,so just wish they would mind their business lol.But oh well. Thanks for the compliment on her,she is gorgeous little girl

Reese is a beautiful pup. It is rude behavior for people to talk about your pup when they have never dealt with her. Ignore fools or you can ask them if they know the hardest thing about business? Minding your own is the punch line for those jerks.

DoctorBrady's blog will be a great resource for you. I want to encourage you to use it and get to know him. Personally I have two labs but I am training mind to hunt shed antlers - they are 9 months and 3 months.

Brushpile has a tracking crew also. He has two young dogs that will be tracking for the first time this fall.

Thanks man I appreciate it.I definitely will be keeping my eye on post and following along and trying to learn what all I need to do.I had rabbit dogs growing up and pets. This is my first time trying the whole specific training thing.Hoping it goes good, she is really smart I just need to figure out how to focus her energy

Start with short liver drags with a food reward at the end. You want the dog to have fun and find the reward. Eventually switch to blood and then hooves. It's a logical progression making tracks more difficult by aging them and lengthening them. Then this deer season start your pup on a known dead deer.

Thanks for the input

Antercrazed -

Did you get Reese on any blood trails this hunting season? Us dog folks like updates especially when we get snowed in for a week.

Hope your dog is doing well.

She is a gorgeous girl. Seeing her sitting in your truck put a smile on my face and reminded me of just how fast puppies grow up.
