This is what happens when you don’t. This ain’t my first rodeo, I’ve got more stitches than a baseball on my face and arms. Most of it was done years ago when heavy equipment had no cabs and I had no sense. In the outdoors 12/14 hours a day, short sleeve shirts 10 months of the year. You get the picture. For the last twenty years I’ve worn it pretty much every day but most of my damage has already been done. I’m reaping the “benefits” of it now !014DEB6A-0EC3-407F-9C7A-0E4B18674C52.jpeg

I'm sorry, it looks painful. That should be a good lesson for teenagers, but we didn't heed stuff like that, why would today's generation be different?
Hopefully they got it all.

I am dreading the next 20 years to see what starts popping up on me. During my teenage years I spent countless hours at the pool or cutting several yards without a shirt. Then I started lifeguarding and working on a fishing boat. I occasionally used sunscreen. I now try to stay out of the sun as much as possible or wear long sleeves and sunscreen. I wish i would have done that in the 80s and 90s. My kids will benefit from my mistakes though. I am constantly warning them of sun damage.

They got it all. What they do is called MOHS surgery. I forget what the acronym stands for, but they whack it, bandage it, let you sit in the waiting area until the lab checks it out, then either go for more or sew it up. I’ve been going to virtually the same place for thirty years. Started with a doctor, then he sold out to a firm and kept practicing. He was my kinda guy, quick, thorough, with little conversation. He’s retired now but the service is as good or better. My normal dermatologist is a hot chick, maybe that’s why I have so many scars !o_O:D

One of my carpenters had a bad case of skin cancer and his doctor told him that damage happened 30 years ago. So, unfortunately you might be right about the damage being done, but even at a later stage in life I believe every bit of prevention will have some value. This is one big reason why I have a cab tractor, another being hearing protection, and the third is lung protection (dust), plus keeping clean means less showers needed.

Good MD's and dentists are harder to find all the time, if you have a good one let them know that you appreciate them.
