Working at the Farm - Took a few I-Phone Pics

Congratulations to you. You had friends in South Carolina as well hoping you would get him!

It’s amazing how far they can travel and how much luck is involved in getting a deer like this. Your hard work on your properties is an inspiration to us all, and I can think of no one more deserving to shoot a booner.

Thanks so much Cutman, and thanks so much to you and Al for the forum. I knew you were pulling for me, and I really appreciate it.

Native, it bears saying again what a great buck that is, and being a guy that appreciates good food and a good home, I think that buck might be like me !:) You certainly give them what they need and want. Not only were you in the right place at the right time, you capitalized on it. Congratulations again, you earned it ! (insert thumbs up emoji HERE)

I posted my son's nice buck in the "live from the stand thread" but wanted to get it here also. He got this one early in the season and made a great double lung shot at a little less than 200 yards. We thought this deer was 4.5 but our taxidermist felt he was a 5.5. He knows deer so well that I trust his judgement. Son and I sure had a great season hunting together.

Great buck!

Native about anybody could get lucky and shoot a mature buck once. You however do it over and over and over again. And I am so happy for you and for all of us that you share your hunts with as well. You are a great woodsman and student of all things in nature and you are a great teacher. I and many others on this forum have learned a lot from you. Pinned to the wall above my desk is my favorite post from years of forum posts. The post is read often and helps me to focus on proven no-nonsense strategies to create better hunting for myself, my wife, son and friends. It is your post from 11/19/2019.

Implementing Lickcreek's food plot strategies brought our hunting to another level as did implementing learnings about true low impact hunting from Steve Bartylla and others from the old forum and this newer forum. With all of this help we have realized tremendous hunting here, probably the best in our area. In 2021 our plan in addition to fulfilling my apple tree growing passions is to make good progress in tweaking our property to reach even higher levels of hunting opportunities using the road map you have shared with us all. It is all of us that are blessed to know you. Congratulations on a successful hunting season for you and your son. And just know that you are making a very positive impact on how many of us manage and hunt our properties. Thank you.

Dave, that means so much coming from someone as talented as you, and someone who I admire so much. Every time I look at one of the apple trees that I grafted from the scion wood that you sent to me I think of you and all those wonderful wild apple trees that you have such a passion for. Today my dad helped me set some more trees, and one of them was a Turning Point Apple. I told him about you and your tree, and he was so blown away with joy to be setting one of those special trees. I remember when you got started on improving your place and got Steve Bartylla involved to help you. I said to myself, "there is a man on a mission, and he is doing things the right way....." You have never looked back from that, and I continue to admire what you have been able to accomplish. Thanks again for everything, and I look forward to us continuing to learn from each other on this forum!

Just looking at you guys bucks and stories again. What a great testimony of your many actions over the years that helps give the habitat results you see. Lot of hard work and sweat. Great stuff. I do want to see sleeping quarters in the tower blind tho!! Is there maid service with turndown and Mint?? Seriously Congrats my friend.

Just think of it as a ladder stand that has had some tweaking......;)

Now...now...let's not get too technical.......:D
In my travels I've been observing that hunting condo's like yours are actually fairly common, usually bigger than 100 sqft, but small enough to only have 1 room. The build style generally consists of an elevated room on columns, with a stairway up, and a lot of windows, and maybe a porch, usually at a wooded edge overlooking a field. I just met a couple that said they always spend the night before deer season in their elevated hunting condo. I haven't seen many with a sliding board though.
