That was the 3rd option google imager gave.

I should have guessed it was no good when I was clearing around some apple trees. The ground was loaded with the berries and like the picture shows, they were still on the bush. If it was worth anything the animals would have had them cleaned up long ago.

The birds will plant them.
I've spent probably 40 hours this spring hacking and squirting the crap. And it will grow right up thru multi flora rose. Its a brutal chore fighting the stuff.
Dont let it take over or it will form a mono culture.

All of our privet and ligustrum are evergreen here. The fruit is oval. That shrub looks deciduous and the fruit looks round.

pl@ntnet says Blackthorn, second choice was European Privet. One or the other, as jlane said, if it was any good it would be gone.

Question: What can I spray on privet to kill it, if anything ?

I did google imager again tonight because I couldn’t remember what the other options were, blackthorn was number 2. So it’s narrowed down between those two. And next time I get to my place I’ll take care of it and look for more.

Mature privet develops some blunt, almost thorn-like bumps on the stalks. Little plants don't have them but when a stalk gets upward of an inch diameter, the bumps start to form. At least that is the way mine is here. Maybe sub varieties or other growing zones may form characteristics differently.

I've read a few studies on fighting the stuff. It seems like gly might be as good as anything. Some studies vary on which is the best herbicide or when to apply.
I will look tomorrow for some links. Its bed time now.
